Tehsil
Jand was established in 1985. It is extended on the left bank of
greater Indus river from Pariot (Narra) to village Rukhwan. There is
District of Kohat of NWFP on the right bank of Indus river western
side). On the southern side Dist. Mian Wali and on the south eastern
side Tehsil Talagang of Dist. Chakwal & Tehsil Pindi Gheb of Dist.
Attock on the eastern side Tehsil Fateh Jang and on the north there
is Tehsil Attock on the other side of Kalla Chitta range. In 1994
Town committee was established for delivery of services and
administration of city area, later on the same was converted into
MC on 14-08-2001 with the devolution.
Area: Total area of Tehsil Jand is 571957 Acre, out of total area
240952acre is cultivated, 30882 acre barren, 230412 acre Gher Mumkin
and 69714 acre of forest. Tehsil jand consists upon 82 villages and
Azafi Abadis including Jand City and 12 Wards including 1
urban union council. According to the census 1998, total population
of Tehsil Jand is 228349 persons out of which 107825 are men and
120497 women. According to the census 1998, 2897 house units are
urban and there is 37391 house units exist in rural area.
